The COVID Task Force met on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 and after reviewing current data, data trends, vaccination summary projections and more the following recommendation was made to the Bishop and approved by the Bishop as it applies to seating on our churches.
UPDATE
Effective on the weekend of March 27/28, 2021 (Palm Sunday).
Seating in churches may go to "Every Pew". The every other pew requirement has been lifted. This includes all liturgies, weekday, weekend, school Mass, etc.
Mask uses in churches remains and with the lifting of the every other pew requirement liturgy presiders are hihgly encourage to enforce this mandate as best as possilbe.
Social distancing within the pews is still required for all non-cohabitating attendees.
The Task Force is well aware that people sitting close to each other in the pews can be challenging and hard to manage. The Bishop asks that you do your best knowing it won't be perfect.
#ProgressNotPerfection
As always, the pastor has the finall call for any enhanced restrictions based on conditions related to COVID in your particular parish grouping region. The pastor does not have the authority to further loosen restrictions or disregard the Bishop's mandates.
The COVID Task Force would like to doubly highlight the importance of the use of masks with these changes. Please make that a priority for your churches as we continue to incrementally open up and yet follow prudent public health measures.
